Launching the New Five-Year ICANN Strategic Plan

2 July 2025

The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) announced that the new Five-Year ICANN Strategic Plan is in effect as of 1 July 2025.

The ICANN Strategic Plan for Fiscal Years (FY) 2026–30 will guide ICANN's priorities and activities over the next five years.

The ICANN Board of Directors developed the plan following a highly inclusive process that involved participation from across the ICANN community, organization, and others. The Strategic Plan defines ICANN's long-term objectives to achieve its vision.

2030 Vision: As the trusted steward of the Internet's unique identifier systems, ICANN is dedicated to strengthening the single, globally interoperable Internet for all.

The plan outlines four Strategic Objectives that chart the path toward ICANN's 2030 vision. These objectives reflect ICANN's commitment to multistakeholder Internet governance, organizational excellence, innovation, and collaboration. The Strategic Plan is complemented by a Five-Year Operating Plan, which details the activities required to execute the initiatives outlined in the plan.

"On behalf of the Board, I would like to thank everyone who contributed to creating this ambitious and comprehensive plan," said ICANN Board Chair Tripti Sinha. "In today's dynamic digital landscape, this new five-year Strategic Plan serves as a road map for ICANN's continued impact. The plan belongs to all of us, and we each play a role in bringing it to life."

The ICANN Board will review and update the Strategic Plan annually to ensure that the organization remains responsive to emerging challenges and opportunities. As the Internet evolves, ICANN remains committed to preserving One World, One Internet.

About ICANN

ICANN's mission is to help ensure a stable, secure, and unified global Internet. To reach another person on the Internet, you need to type an address – a name or a number – into your computer or other device. That address must be unique so computers know where to find each other. ICANN helps coordinate and support these unique identifiers across the world. ICANN was formed in 1998 as a nonprofit public benefit corporation with a community of participants from all over the world.
