ICANN's Strategic Plan for Fiscal Years 2026–2030 is designed with a five-year horizon, yet the environment around us constantly evolves, making it both prudent and healthy to review the Strategic Plan periodically for relevance and adaptability. The annual strategy review is the process through which we ensure that the assumptions underpinning the Strategic Plan still hold, and to stay alert to emerging trends.
One way we identify new or emerging strategic trends is through a series of Environmental Scan sessions. The purpose of these sessions is to gather insights, observations, and perspectives from across the ICANN ecosystem that will inform how we view the future strategically.
Why the Environmental Scan Matters
No strategy exists in a vacuum. How people use domain names shift, community expectations evolve, technologies advance, and the tools and processes we use change over time. The Environmental Scan helps us identify and signal these movements early.
Why Your Participation Is Critical
A strong Strategic Plan is not only built on analysis; it is built on a shared vision and goals. The environmental scan sessions are an opportunity to contribute your perspective and help ensure that our strategic direction remains grounded in reality and a shared understanding. Your day-to-day experiences, observations, and insights are invaluable to this process.
